1. Ah, 2009, it’s been fun.

All these retrospective posts got me thinking… The last few months of 2009 brought some interesting changes to my life.

The boyfriend and I left all our friends behind and moved to Santa Monica, just because it seemed like a good idea.

I quit bartending and got a ‘real’ job, which - big surprise - I hate!

The boyfriend found out that he has Celiac’s disease, so we’re a gluten free household now. (I still eat gluten when we go out though - I love bread too much to give it up just because he can’t have it!)

I bought a car after 5 years without one, and now the boyfriend and I are considering buying a new one together (talk about committment!)

I decided to go back to school and get a ‘useful’ degree (unlike the ‘useless’ degrees I already have!)

I sewed my own work clothes (and no one knew until someone asked where I got one of my dresses and I said that I made it - talk about a proud moment!)

There have been ups and downs, but overall it’s been a good year. I miss my friends in Seattle, but I talk to them often. I get to see my family more now that I live within driving distance of Phoenix. The boyfriend and I have discovered that we’re pretty happy hanging out with just each other, which is a nice thing to know. It’s been a crazy year, but I think that it’s the end of something good, and the beginning of something better.
