So. Yesterday was my first day at my new job, and I have to say, it kind of sucked.
First, a monkey could do my job. It’s pathetic. I find it hard to believe that they are willing to pay someone to be there 40 hours a week to do what clearly can be accomplished in twenty minutes a day. The only thing that I will be doing that seems in any way useful is cover for the receptionist during her breaks. (And don’t get me started on how boring the receptionist’s desk is! I sat with her for three hours yesterday ‘training’ and the phone rang exactly 3 times.)
Second, the guy I’m replacing (and who is training me for the next five days) is the stupidest, most obnoxious man I have ever met (and that is saying a LOT!) I don’t know if I can take five more days of his stupid jokes and retarded commentary. The idea that they seem to think that it will take me five more days of training to do this stupid job is a bit insulting as well. The best (worst) part is that my boss has told me more than once that once the dude who is training me is gone, I will have to tell her everything he told me so that she can show me the ‘right’ way. Fun!
If I hadn’t been unemployed (without the luxury of unemployment checks) for the past 6 weeks, I’m not sure if I would have survived day 1. I just keep reminding myself that it’s better than nothing.
It is better than nothing, right?
