I went to the doctor today, and they gave me some medication that I can’t drink alcohol with. I’m supposed to be singing karoke this weekend at a tweetup, but how am I going to do it sober? I’m not brave enough. Maybe if it’s just one song and I practice a lot before. I don’t know. I’m not a happy camper. If I wasn’t meeting new people, it wouldn’t even matter. It’s not like I have to drink, it just eases the nervousness a bit. Believe it or not, I am a bit shy sometimes. I won’t have my liquid courage to help me this time. Sigh. :(
Here’s a thought: pick a song by someone who talks more than sings… I always sing songs by George Thorogood because you basically just say the words - no singing required. Also, songs by groups like Journey or Foreigner (think cheesy hair bands) work well because the background music is pretty loud and everyone will sing along with you.
