Seriously, how am I supposed to concentrate on my work with that box staring at me???
It’s iPad day! I’m so excited!
Of course, it’s gonna show up at the office in the middle of a three hour meeting I have scheduled, after which I have to leave immediately for the dentist to have a root canal. From there I have to go directly to a class, and then go straight home to finish my homework that is due by 11pm tonight. So yeah. I’ll be lucky if I get the damn...
I’m having a stupid day. People are being lame. I’m surrounded by epic amounts of lame. My boss got fired last week and I miss her and now I have to do her job and it’s not like I’m getting paid more or anything. And my legs are sore from that stupid pilates class. And I’m all PMS-ey and I just want to kick everyone in their stupid face then run away crying. Meh.
On riding my bike in New York.

So many people are intimidated to bike in this city because it is assumed that all drivers hate us and are inclined to run over us in the blink of an eye.
But why do they hate us? And why do pedestrians hate us? Because we don’t follow simple rules, and by not following these rules, we look like a bunch of hooligans.
In the short three miles I spent riding on the...
Pure Barre
I just took a class there - it’s this new-ish thing - a mix of yoga, pilates, and ballet set to a techno beat. Tonight was my first class, and I’m really a little worried that I will not be able to walk tomorrow.
Seriously. I had trouble pushing the accelerator on my drive home, and now that I’ve sat down on the couch, I am beginning to fear that I may never get up again.

is that the world doesn’t stop because someone’s gone. You’d think it would pause, even briefly, and just hold still for a moment to acknowledge the passing of someone who mattered, someone who loved and was loved, someone who was needed. But no. We grumble about car alarms and barking dogs and…

Formula: Anybody who says "I work X hours a week"
coyotesqrl:
warriormcpoet:
is really working ≈ .2X hours per week.
This is certainly true for me at this stage in my career and is true for most people I know, but it’s not true for everyone. Anyone who’s worked an assembly line, or construction, or data entry, or telemarketing would differ. Anyone who’s ever worked in a kitchen or done piece work in the garment industry would differ.

I’m trying to raise money to support Junior Achievement, which is an amazing cause, so if you’ve ever thought about donating, maybe you’ll take this opportunity to throw a few dollars their way. No pressure. No one will judge you if you don’t donate, but you could make a difference in a kid’s life. Click on the link to donate. Thanks!
I counted.
86 more days of actual work before I can quit.
I can do this.
Hey, Quality Inn…your continental breakfast of watery orange juice and frozen mini muffins? It sucks.
Hanging in Temecula with the fam…from the looks of it, this is going to be a long, crazy weekend!

Pop vs. Soda vs. Coke
frageelaytwit:
I say soda, even though “pop” is mainstream in the Chicago area. I get it from my Pennsylvania coal country dad.
I say soda, mainly because whenever I asked my dad for a pop, he would respond ‘you want a pop in the nose?’
When airlines began charging to check in luggage,... →
inothernews:
A small airline based in Florida is going to try charging as much as $30 for carry-on bags.
Spirit Airlines says the charge will apply to bags in the overhead bin. Personal items that fit under the seat will still be free.
The new charge begins on Aug. 1. Spirit says the charge should reduce the number of carry-on bags, which will help empty the plane faster after flights. It...

I’m quitting my job! I realized today (again) that I really, truly, hate working in an office, and I’m just not willing to do it anymore! I miss waiting tables. I miss the cash. I miss the hours. I miss wandering around the city in...
The receptionist is out today, so I’m stuck up front all day, which sucks and is totally boring….and to top it all off, it’s pouring rain outside so I don’t even get to stare out the window at the (normally amazing) ocean view.
My life is HARD!
This is gonna be a big week.
I have to study for and take my accounting final by Friday. (boo!)
I have an appointment with my new dentist on Wednesday. (Ugh, I should probably start flossing!)
The boss gave me awesome tickets to the Coyotes/Kings game on Thursday. (Hockey is the one with the puck, right?)
And on Friday I get to go to Temecula to see two of my favorite people get married....
Woah! Just felt my first earthquake. Totally weird.
Happy Easter to those of you who celebrate, and happy ‘good luck finding a brunch place that isn’t overrun with people’ day to the rest of you.
Oh, and you have ‘All this Easter candy is now on sale’ Day to look forward to tomorrow.
Yay! Cheap peeps!

Sarah Inmi’s post about the tooth fairy reminded of the stories I would write for Meagan each time she lost a tooth when she was little. This one is my very favourite.
