I’ve been trapped in the middle of nowhere Pennsylvania for the holiday with no Internet (why does the iPhone capitalize Internet???) and only an edge connection on my phone - hence the lack of posting. Suffice it to say that I have many awesome stories which I promise to share upon my return to civilization. I hope you all had a merry Christmas and that Santa brought you everything you...

mindbabies: theweekmagazine: A researcher in Germany says he’s discovered a fool-proof method for treating baldness! It could be available for humans within five years, offering relief to 80 percent of people who suffer from hair loss. Here’s how it works  This is actually pretty cool. :) Reblogging so I can remember to send this link to my brother on a day that isn’t Christmas...

The fiancé and I are going to Mechanicsburg, PA on Thursday to spend the holiday with his mom’s huge uber-catholic family. Since I’m well, not catholic, it should be interesting. Even better? Here’s an excerpt from his latest email to me about our upcoming trip: “For sleeping, we are going to be in a bed in the unfinished part of the basement. It is unheated but there is...

And now I’m going to attempt to go back to sleep until my alarm goes off, even though my hair and the bottoms of my pajama pants are wet and cold. Blah. Wish me luck!

My dog refuses to do his business in the backyard when it rains. Which means that, despite the fact that we are completely spoiled and have a backyard and a doggie door in an apartment in Santa Monica, I still have to get up at five in the MONKEY FIGHTING A.M! to walk the damn dog. In the rain. ARGH!!!!!

xntrek: Those who get close to me discover I am a pain in the ass. I am harsh. Not cruel or sadistic. But I do tend to constantly challenge those around me. Some have called me an Agent Provocateur, others a Catalyst, others still have simply cursed me as obnoxiously stubborn and… Awesome.

I so want to get tickets for when I’m in town for my honeymoon, but the problem with road trip honeymoons is that I don’t know exactly when I’ll be there. Conundrum!!!

It's Operation Santa Claus Time Again!
ramshackleglam: Such a great way to give back during the holiday season. Click here for last year’s post on Operation Santa Claus, and here for the Operation Santa Claus site! One note: If you’re hand-delivering the gifts rather than mailing them, as Kendrick and I did last year (and it really is so fun and exciting to see the recipients’ reactions), I recommend traveling in pairs. No...

30 Day Challenge: Day 10: Discuss your first love...
My first kiss was with Preston Schaeffer behind my parents shed in the backyard when I was in second grade.  We had talked about kissing for days, and had it all planned out.  We sat behind the shed, looking at each other.  Every time we would lean in and get close, we would start laughing.  It took us a million tries, and we thought about giving up.  But we made it.  And the second our lips...

30 Day Challenge: Day 9: How You Hope Your Future...
I think I hope for the same things everyone hopes for.  Love, happiness, travel…all that good stuff. I want to get a puppy because since the fiance’s dog died, my dog needs a friend, and having one dog just isn’t as much fun as having two.  I want to live in France for a while - hopefully right after I get married in April.  Then maybe Costa Rica or somewhere in South America....

30 Day Challenge: Day 8: A Moment You Felt the...
There is a story I love to tell whenever people ask me if my younger brother is older or younger than me.  There was a day, when I lived in Seattle the first time, when I had my first ‘real’ job.  I had been working for several months and I was always rushing out the door at the last possible second, lacing my shoes as I rode the bus to work.  Well, then there was this one day.  My...

I never have.  Never.  Not even for a second. I can’t even imagine.  It breaks my heart to think that anyone would ever feel so terrible about their life that they would want to end it.

So apparently my queue spewed it’s guts all over your dashboards and now you all know that I was a big cheater and wrote some of my 30 day challenge posts ahead of time. Oops! And yes, coyotesqrl, flugelhorn and mellophone - I liked the weird stuff. (Mellophone is really just a French horn for marching bands and I played flugelhorn in the jazz band, bassoon in concert band and flute for...

Sagittarius, baby!  I’m constantly shocked at how accurate those ‘this is your sign and here’s what you are like’ things are.  I don’t really put a lot of stock into horoscopes, but then I read about how Sagittarians have a positive outlook on life (check!), they enjoy traveling (check!), they are honest, truthful and generous (check, check and check!), they are...

1. I taught myself to knit in a brief period of unemployment after college.  I was so bored that I knit about 15 scarves in a little under a week. 2. I taught myself to sew because I couldn’t find a dress that fit both my boobs and my hips.  Now I’m making the dress for my Maid of Honor to wear at my wedding. 3. 30 Day Challenge: Day 4: Your views on religion
I think I’m pretty lucky.  My parents didn’t raise me with any religion. We spent our Sundays as a family.  We went hiking, or played games in our backyard, or sat around and watched movies if it was raining.  There was a bible on the bookshelf, but it was one of those ones that you find in hotel rooms - I’m not sure which of my parents took it or when.  I was a reader, so I...

30 Day Challenge: Day 3: Your views on drugs and...
I drink. Often. I love it. I love a well-made cocktail or a delicious microbrew.  I’m not a drunk - it’s rare that I get more than mildly tipsy. Hell, I was a bartender for years, and I plan to be one again someday (hopefully) soon. I think that so long as people drink responsibly - and that means not driving, not being violent, not allowing the imbibing to interfere with daily life....

As my name might imply, I used to bartend.  I loved it.  The thing is, I also loved the idea of having weekends off.  So, when I moved to California, I went and got a job in an office.  No more barmaidening.  And you know what?  I hate it.  I miss being behind a bar.  I miss the schedule (yes, even the working weekends part!)  I miss the people.  I miss the lack of corporate bullshit.  And I...
