Finally made it home after a great birthday today with family and friends! I got spoiled rotten! New sewing scissors, an ihome alarm clock that works with my iPhone, some awesome kitchen gadgets, and $$$ for new clothes. Life is good! To top it all off, traffic between Phoenix and Santa Monica wasn’t terrible so it only took six hours…next time maybe I will schedule it so I...
Today is my nephew’s 1st birthday party (his birthday was the 25th) - and somehow my brother plans to fit 50+ people into his tiny house. This should be interesting!
(My birthday is Sunday so apparently the celebration will involve tequila shots in my honor as well - yay!)
Happy Thanksgiving!
The road between LA and Phoenux is soooooo boring!
Taking the bus to work is much easier than riding my bike, and I get to leave (slightly) later. Why do I ride my bike again? Exercise? Bah!
So. Yesterday was my first day at my new job, and I have to say, it kind of sucked.
First, a monkey could do my job. It’s pathetic. I find it hard to believe that they are willing to pay someone to be there 40 hours a week to do what clearly can be accomplished in twenty minutes a day. The only thing that I will be doing that seems in any way useful is cover for the receptionist during her...
This being at work at 8 stuff sucks! I need a nap already!
The new job starts tomorrow morning, which is good because I’m broke and bored…but I have to be there at 8 AM! That’s just insane! I think the last time I had to be at work before 11 was four years ago when I worked for starsucks.
I’m not sure I’m ready for this whole ‘real job’ thing…
Seriously, I hate shopping. I’ve been wandering around for a few hours now and I have nothing to show for it. So, I’m doing something drastic.
I’m going to the fabric store.
Because if you can’t find anything you like in the stores, maybe you can make something that you hate, but will wear anyway because you put a few hours of work into it.
At least, that’s the...
So I got a job, which is great, because I am bored out of my mind from being unemployed for the past month, but it’s in an office, which is going to be weird because for the past oh, seven years, I’ve been a bartender. So yesterday I looked through my closet and realized that I own exactly one shirt that could be considered business attire. I figure I can’t wear my tip shirts...
I got the job!
I just have to pass a drug test and they have to do a background check, but assuming everything goes well (and it will - I’m a good girl) I start the Monday after Thanksgiving - which seems far away but will give me some more slacking time (that I’ll appreciate more because I’ll know it won’t last forever!) Yay!
I'm not the best tumblr around...
I don’t have a ton of followers, and I don’t participated in tumblr stuff very often, but the thought of meeting some of you people in San Francisco in January is intriguing, because quite a few people that I follow seem to be planning on going, and I think that those people are entertaining and funny and interesting, so I’d love to have the chance to meet them in person even...
So my job interview went well, I think. It lasted an hour and a half, which I’m assuming is a good sign. I find out Friday, which leaves me two more days for dropping off resumes at bars that aren’t hiring right now. Woo.
I have a job interview tomorrow!
It’s for a crappy office job that will pay about half of what I made as a bartender, but I won’t have to work nights or weekends and it’s only a mile from my apartment, so there’s that. Wish me luck!
In a sudden burst of energy, I rode my bike to the library, got a library card, checked out some books, and then went for a ride along the boardwalk until the fog attacked. When I got back home, I had an email from a potential employer! So I called them and had a phone interview, which went as well as can be expected considering that I haven’t had a non-restaurant job in five years and now...
My quest to be productive today has been less than successful. Here’s what I’ve done so far:
Stayed in bed until 9 even though I was awake at 6, reading blogs on my phone and harassing the dogs.
Went for a run with my dog, leaving the boyfriend’s dog home alone, crying pathetically at the door. The run was pretty short because I’m not really a runner and I thought I was...
Well, it’s been a while since I posted anything here, and I have absolutely no good excuse. I just moved to Santa Monica. I have no friends here yet. No job, either. No money (well, much less than before, which is freaking me out a bit - you know, what with the whole unemployed thing) so I have quite literally nothing to do. I bought a bike, so I go for rides up and down the beach, but...
